inspiration? or motivation? I find that inspiration mostly makes me daydream of all the wonderful things I'm "going to do". I find I usually need motivation to get them done. I find that precursors to motivation, for me, are be happy and g

That's more motivation or responsibility than inspiration. But I use that technique too and it does work in many cases.

Focusing on "SQL" being a problem is misguided. The amount of SQL knowledge needed to achieve basic CRUD/REST behavior takes about an hour to learn. More advanced SQL takes much longer but most of these new DBs don't allow for queries tha

They certainly did not make politically difficult decisions over the last decade, which would have been to cool off the growth. They generally only make these difficult decisions in hard times, not good times.

The quotes from Cheng Siwei come across just fine. I read it as pretty honest with a tinge of political cover. There is nothing in these quotes that is incorrect. They played a game that had this as its only outcome. Both the U.S. and C

nope, I don't believe them. If the debt bubble were limited to subprime loans, its a big correction to take on, but we could get through it...real estate would be cheap for a couple of decades; cool, there is actually some value in that.

I agree. However, your leaving out a large part of the debt structure. Well, you point to it a bit "They then made bad economic decisions based on the false idea that it was real". If it were only values of homes that dropped, it wouldn'

Perhaps a bilingual Chinese person could weigh in on this. For this exercise, we are concerned with the language in their head, not what they say when they talk to another. I'm guessing they think in terms of math notation with word-numbe

Its interesting to see consumption so low. Its my understanding there is a "last mile" problem with providing solar to homes and small business. There are not enough companies making it easy for the small adopter. Its certainly not at th

I've been very happy with dreamhost. Their control panel handles wordpress backups and upgrades seamlessly. I just backed up and upgraded three wp sites, it took less than 5 minutes.

I'm sure his educational background is useful. His experience in running Novel and fighting Microsoft is most likely what helps most. I've seen tech companies run by very smart PHD's and not run well. I'm not sure there's a correlation.

yes, that was my point. He wasn't a founder and has done a great job. My point was simply that I disagree with Andressen in that your job as a founder and to investors is to keep an open mind. If you have what it takes to be CEO, do it.

I can't think of a single reason to pay credit card level interest. If you get free interest for a limited period and manage that extremely well, I suppose that's a cool trick. Any other use is a fools game.

If economists ever expect us to view them even remotely in the same league as scientists, they may want to start by dropping the approach of trying to "persuade" and move on towards "proof". Krugman's not bad, he writes good mainstream stuf
