Thanks, I've been interested in aphantasia because it kind of resonated with me while being clearly more extreme than my personal experience. What you describe sounds very much like what I feel and it's quite pleasant to read such

Just bought a Casio digital watch this morning because it has a countdown timer you can adjust up and down. I'm a happy ape right now.

Clearly, there are better ways to share files than scp from work desktop. I should have said that having forgotten to push changes to a remote repo, turning the desktop off partially caused quite a bit of extra work in an already very busy

That comment was saying that technical support is the natural understanding, and that this lack of clarity makes it a weasel-word. This is especially true since there are more straightforward alternatives such as the one that was given.

Thanks for reminding me that I exceptionally turned off my office PC today, leaving inaccessible the latest version of a paper I need to submit this weekend Today, it wasn't worth the savings.

I think for many people emulators are a sweet spot between technical challenge and potential usefuleness. You can actually improve the state of the art, and it's fun and challenging, and people will actually be thankful!

I seem to remember there was a polemic about supermarkets locking their bins from scavengers. Did you have any problem at the time? Was it before or after there was a change of law? Just a few more questions out of curiosity from a fellow f

Android is an interesting use case. It would probably be mostly useless to SSH from an Android if the TUI ecosystem wasn't so prevalent. You probably also refer to Windows and MacOS, but that just corresponds to another type of difficu

When you are only using Linux machines, X mostly just works, while correct terminal bahaviour and appearance depend on configuration and TUIs. I'm not praising X nor am I shitting on TUIs, also I have indeed had more problems with X in

The comment was indeed saying that TUI is easier to set up over SSH than GUI. In my experience, it depends. X can be a pain, but getting a compatible font and terminal behaviour on the client can be a pain too.
