It seems like you haven't been exposed to spaghetti code with a million comments vs well designed modular code with few but useful comments. People don't just dream up that difference, it does often change other programmers'

Thanks for pointing out that NB doesn't denote minor comments (as I believed), quite the opposite.

Why make your vision of human success hinge on a sudden global capacity to not litter objects for which there is zero incentive not to litter? Think about all the great or crazy human successes; do you think they were enabled by perfect ind

Well it's quite common for people using “normal” email-exchanged MS office revisions. I have no clue if there's specific tooling for these cases. Of course you could brush them off and say they wouldn't be a problem if they j

In supercomputers, there are such mechanisms for reactive congestion management: messages are sent to emitters to temporarily reduce flow. It works at small network scale but doesn't scale up, because congestion can happen often and fo

I believe using a checkbox element and the :checked selector alongside siblings matching would do the trick.

It seems to imply the only ethical form of control is through capital directly, so through fines. Though it seems obvious that in such a case others in the company would want to punish the individual who got caught.

> To me the main problem is that I'm always afraid to put a 5, who can not check manuals? ;-) Quite often I find that the greater skills lies in knowing when and how to check manuals rather than expecting to be a knowledge machine.

I suppose an argument against banning such profiles is that it's easier to spot a consistently bad actor than to try to play whack-a-mole with new profiles.

I have an intuition that any line editor would find its limits quite fast for most existing code. (After having used ed a bit on regular files I came across, it's often both surprisingly useful and surprisingly obtuse compared with Vim

TUI text editors, debuggers, pagers, music players are still very much used, if maybe not very actively developed. I guess even style escape codes would break line printers? This would discard a vast amount of tools I personally use daily.

This is 4-digit hex rgba notation. It's a shorthand for #rrggbbaa, literally as #rgba. In this case alpha is f = 1.0, so #ff9f = #ff9.
