Yeah, I did go down that rabbit hole several years ago. It is what it is. One big part of it for me are the graphics. If the graphics/UI aren't kind of shitty, it's not going to "feel like Rogue" to me. I don't

I did see that Epyx Rogue is available on Switch as a port from an Amiga version, but it's not without UI bugs [1]. Also previously when I mentioned Wiz 1 I'd forgotten the Switch was part of the sub-thread, it's available on

My biggest beef with modern roguelikes, including everything you mentioned, is almost none of them make me think, "Wow, this feels like rogue to me". Which is not to say that I don't like some of them, but I like them for com

I do not have this problem where I live in the US. Perhaps the issue is that specialists don't want to live where you are?

The argument, which one can choose to agree with or not, is that this allows them to scale BOH pay with how busy the night is. That's similar to how tipping works for FOH staff, but at least in my state BOH staff are not allowed to sha

To be fair, by "more than once" I meant 2-3 times, not a regular occurrence. :) The last time it happened was ~300 + 20% service charge + a tip that'd have been in the low-mid 20's. That works out to be a bit under $100.

It's entirely possible that there's never any point where "observed gender" is even implied and my mind just filled in some blanks when it talks about passing for human. To be honest I never gave it an ounce of thought b

Yes, I was surprised by all the people here who had a female mental picture for this reason. While obviously it is genderless, my recollection was that there were plenty of times where the narrative had it passing as male.
