Lots of people do it at City Hall and it usually costs about $50. Throw a nice dinner in for a few of your closest friends / family and you're talking about a decent wedding for a few hundred bucks. No need to go crazy.

Yeah the WebRTC repo is basically awful to try to build. tbf though that's not entirely out of line with other open source projects from Google. You get to have fun tearing it out of Chromium and experimenting until it works...

My guess is they didn't want to tell anyone at the FCC about it fearing leaks?

Yes I will concede that the original iPhone was a game changer in terms of new features. However once smartphone competition picked up Apple (rightly, in my mind) mostly sat back and refined features others had tried before.

It's almost always been true. Think back to the early iPhone days when they didn't even have cut & paste! Apple has always done a good job of really refining features, but I'm not certain I can think of one that they wer

As I mentioned in a sibling comment, and it's almost ironic thinking about it, this "freedom for security" tradeoff we're making here is not what it seems. I see your point in the context of e.g. WannaCry and WTC attacks

otoh the pro-privacy approach they're taking also increases freedom, such as in the use-case this article is about. Which imo is probably a more tangible freedom to many than the ability to hack around iOS devices or the idea that the

I'm guessing they're referring to a group of people who go and get drinks? I don't really understand it either, but that's my guess from the followup being about going out for drinks with one of the founders.

The lenticular surface doesn't have to be very thick at all and if you can print directly onto the plastic I think what you describe would be pretty straightforward to make!

Project Fi seems cool and something I would happily subscribe to. Too bad it only works with Google phones.

checked the KBB for my car back in may and it said $10k (2010 a4), checked again last month and it was down to $8500. I'm not really depending on the car to retain any value at all, but it's interesting to see how quickly that pr

I feel like Chrome has been getting consistently worse recently. For example there are some pretty rough video-related bugs - at least on macOS - that have been around for at least a year. I guess that's what happens when you're o

I'm with you there. I think the last time I paid to go see a movie in theaters was for Hobbit 2 which was what 4 or 5 years ago? That being said I've been to two screenings since then, but I didn't pay for either of those s

People will pay for indie music, it's been happening for a long time. It still happens today. Particularly if, as we've been talking about here, it's focused on electronica/hip-hop people will pay so they can perform th

I believe, at least in California, households that have taken some effort to make their property more resilient to fire are given higher priority. I heard an interview with a firefighter on the radio talking about this a few weeks back.

Full screen video could skip most of the other composition that needs to happen, though. So while the video decoding itself may not be any different, it certainly won't have to go through drawing everything else that would otherwise b
