Charities are a form of business. I didn't say they were for-profit.

I don't know why you think I've ever said or implied that Tether's insolvency is a good thing?

No, I'm not equating liquidity with solvency. Running out of liquidity is one way of becoming insolvent. Having more liabilities than assets is the other way. If you think otherwise, go Google the definition of insolvent. Thanks. >

While that's true, I would argue that makes it more good than certs on an HSM, not less good as the person I replied to posited.

Oh, great. Except uhh... they are. Shell variables are inextricably tied to environment variables and frankly, making them uninheritable would make them less useful, not more.

I've been considering getting a TV tuner card so I can use Plex's DVR/live TV features. I haven't found a reason to actually do it yet though; after all, if I even want to watch the local news I can just go to their webs

Change their layout so the scraper stops working? Block the useragent? Block other identifiable parameters of Roku's networking stack or HTTP stack? Sue them?

I'm not sure where the irony is, since Google doesn't have a captive app store, unlike say Apple.

Huh? Roku is "hardware you purchased". Sure, you could go out and purchase something else to replace it. I'm not sure why you think that means it doesn't impact the hardware you already have.

As noted elsewhere in the thread, it's actually true in general, and has been for years. Taxis adjusted their business to compete with ride-sharing, and ride-sharing adjusted their business to stop hemorrhaging money a LONG time ago.

None of the "ride sharing" services were ever meant as anything other than a taxi service. Ride sharing was solely an excuse to evade the law and if you can't see that then you aren't looking.

But you don't, not if you secured the bank loan using the phone. Which you did if you financed it through a carrier. Just like if I go to a bank, get a loan for a car, buy that car, and stop making payments... THE BANK OWNS THE CAR.
