I would guess taxpayers. But keep in mind the military has a huge budget for training exercises. I would guess they just cancel one of those and go blow this up instead. I doubt it's costing us anything 'extra'. Also I'm

not sure if that's obscurity. changing the port means you have to scan the whole port range. port knocking gives you another 2-4 bytes of entropy. (a determined attacker will try all the port knocking permutations) Seems like putting b

IMHO, you run into the same problem as journaling. User interaction is basically a stream of deltas. If everything is perfect, it’s awesome. But really, you want checkpoints from time to time. It’s a cool idea. It’s cooler if your organizat

Taxpayers wonder why the initial voyage went somewhere where the ship could be stuck for 3 months. Sure, they can train in port and that's probably a good move for an all new ship and crew, but losing even the option to go out to sea s

My great grandmother saw the Wright brothers fly as a teenager. The moon landing was a big deal to her. You’re absolutely right. I was little when I talked with her, but my parents would surely say she would have completely accepted interst

I always imagined spy satellites in a 'string of pearls' kind of configuration. Rather than having 1 in some specific orbit, have 4 or more in the same orbit. your 90 minute return time gets cut to ~20 minutes or less. Obviously,

I’m a little sad you got downvotes. Although a slightly better approach might have been, it’s a raw business license. 100% natural and regulation free. It’s easy to attack snake oil. The meta reference is a bit more amusing, because it has

I don't think it's on purpose. It's decomposing a monolith down to microservices, without any verification. Since each player is only responsible for their little corner of the world, no one actually has any sort of responsib

One (absurd) solution would be to say, no income taxes beyond $127,000 (same as social security) and to pay for it, we'll just not have a military. The homeless person down the street wouldn't really notice. The homeowner would ge
