Yes, other things cause e-waste. Sometimes worse. That's not a good justification for more e-waste.

I agree with you, and reading some of the takes in this thread is actually blowing my mind. I cannot believe that the top-voted comment right now is saying to not trust doctors, use an LLM to diagnose yourself and others.

"Years of average use" is great until you realize that it actually means "Roughly 12 to 15 hours of recording". Not sure how long my iphone can record for, but it's probably close to that. Afterwards I get to charge

Percentages are fun because they can make something with a small absolute change look like a giant change. No business is really going to care about $1.00/user, especially when it costs hundreds of dollars per user (or thousands) to mi

I have several qualms with how the real median household income is calculated, specifically the consumer price index. But I agree that tackling housing alone would be significant.

some disabilities have mostly lost their stigma, sure, in some places. Many have not. Most have not, if you consider the whole world and not just California and Washington or whatever.

One example of a malicious explanation would be: people are lying about having a disability to get some sort of benefits they don’t need, likely at the expense of someone who does need those benefits.

sweet! according to austintexas.gov, that's only $2.63 below the 2024 living wage. $5.55 below, if you use the MIT numbers for 2025. As long as you don't run into anything unforseen like medical expenses, car breakdowns, etc., you
