This has the potential to cripple the economy and society (see Mad Max). There is a great book that discusses Peak Oil and the potential crash we are facing called "The Long Emergency" for anyone interested. I really hope we attempt to hedg

Azeem, I think you highlight an important topic. I joined Wall Street after graduating as well, because 1. It paid well and was "a good job", and 2. Was one of the opportunities that came up to campus and was easy to interview for. Outside

Joran, taking breaks and letting work go is extremely necessary. Your marginal production and happiness begin to severely decline and you end up just burning yourself out. You can put in 2 days of straight, solid work and get half as much d

I think one of the biggest hinderances to "augmented reality" is the currently available viewers. Holding up an iPhone or some other smart device to look through its small screen doesn't cut it. The concept is powerful, the usability is awf

papachito, sorry if my curt response came off as anything other than positive. I was just adding a link to a past Atwood article pointing out that the technology is not the emphasis here, but it is rather the building of a community lead by

Ah, I see your point and I agree. "Rainmaker" is the wrong term for sure. A better categorization would be exactly what you said, a "doer" ... so to restate my comment: make sure you push some of those rank 1 ideas forward, if even marginal

I suppose they are trying to appeal to a younger audience, but I couldn't agree with you more. I find the new skins distracting and far away from the core value that I've come to expect and enjoy from the talented folks at FF.

Very much appreciate your feedback. I've seen a few job placement services that employ such tactics. I feel like that borders on spam and would very much like to avoid it. One of the biggest challenges is we want to do it "right", but there

I wonder the same thing - personally, I think AAPL and Jobs are just that talented that they can "get it right" (extremely hard to do) ... I'm sure they do get out of the lab and get some real world feedback to some degree. But also remembe

I think testing / getting feedback on your vision is vitally important. You aren't going to get buy in from all (or any), but it will give you more of a sense about your venture's risk profile. You can then better evaluate if you want / can
