It's not at all clear that fighter aircraft are going to be doing much in any future conflict with e.g. China regardless of how quickly they can shoot down 30 year old technology.

It's not like the fast jet jocks who run the Air Force are really doing much to justify the decision to split out the Army Air Force, anyway.

If you're on a Mac (as I am) it leaves an Emacs application running (complete with menu bar and app switcher icon) that you can't interact with. But otherwise, --daemon works great.

Exactly. The system should be resilient to the assholery of the individuals, as far as possible. It's not a surprise that TSA, which is new, high-profile, and huge has fucked up incentives.

The C preprocessor is terrible, but rampant cpp insanity is much, much less prevalent these days -- the C culture has made its peace with the technology. A similar accommodation would doubtless happen with JS macros, particularly as there&#

I think the ferry idea is interesting, because the Bay is totally underutilized. I used to live in the Mission and work in Oakland, and I'd just bike to the ferry terminal. Aside from being a relaxing way to spend your morning commute,

That's not what HiDPI mode does; rather than rely on the (uniformly crappy) on-board scaling logic on the display, the computer sends a full resolution picture that it has scaled already. And there's no reason to think that this w
