I couldn't agree more, and I'm a fan of PHP. It's a swiss army knife of a language, allowing you to program however you want. C programmers can code procedurally and java guys can jump in and basically go all out with the OOP constructs pro

asside from the ethical concerns, we're not actually as near to achieving this as the article seems to suggest, at least from my undergrad studies in chem/bio (not an expert, I'd like to hear what a researcher in this field has to say). The

It depends on what you need. sqlite if you need SQL queries /indexes,etc, try leveldb if key/value store will work, its fast and micro.

thanks for the detailed response! that clarifies the static wrapper method a bit that I've seen used in the mri source and other places. Yea, I should have just done strncpy but was just typing in a quick example and didn't think buffer ove

I'm curious, b/c conceptually I like the idea of no fixed vacation, just take it when you need it. How was this handled in the company or established in the culture? Did the bosses do the same thing? I could imagine if the heads set the exa

Maybe not by 2020 but I think the future of "programming" lies in the machine learning and ai subsets within the CS field. At some point, to cope with the complexity we're going to have to have programs that write themselves and adapt over

I suppose I should have been more verbose above. Basically, I don't want to say that davidkatz's and yours notes about the possible errors and biases of the study are unfounded. IMO, every study or report should be approached with these pre
