Nitpicking a bit. Humans (as in homo sapiens) have only existed for roughly 300k years. The use of fire was invented by earlier species but the timeframe you mention is probably correct.

A suggestion for a more fluid translation could be "interest groups are taking notes"

Bizqwit has done some phenomenal work. I loved his videos on how DOOM style 3D engines work where he goes through raycasting and BSP trees. He also has videos around how passwords work in old 8-bit console games. His article about dithering

I see a lot of people here complain about their toxic community. This was always the worst thing about suckless and it put a lot of people off about trying to engage and help out, including me. Luckily the most toxic of them all left a few

A friendly advice to the author of this article. Even though I enjoyed reading the whole thing, if you are gonna have a tl;dr in your article; put it at the start, not at the end. Almost felt lika a mockery.

When we one day become a space faring civilization we will probably stop using the gregorian calendar because why would you use that on say Mars? But there really is no reason to get rid of the unix timestamp as a measure of time and this m

One thing does not exclude the other. The sites are stateless like Lorddragonfang already said. This doesn't mean you can't make nice client side apps and you surely don't need to use javascript to do it. What js does is that

I have moved the problem of styling to the browsers, like NAVI in my case. The browser is the only part that understands the limitation of the device and knows how to best render each widget so it makes sense for it to handle all the stylin

You could make a browser that renders ALFI in a text-only mode using say ncurses. When I designed ALFI I always had this in mind.

By pressing CTRL+m in NAVI all pages will render in dark theme if you want. Custom themes might be included later.

Yes but I haven't looked into how much work it would be. I think this might be essential in order to reach a wider audience because I think people want to be able to use the same browser to surf both ALFI and regular websites. Would be

I am trying to reinvent the web. Replacing HTML/JS/CSS with a language called ALFI. It is stupidly simple in its design but still very powerful. Similarly to HTML you use it to create widgets, place them, and define their behavior

I think what he has achieved so far is pretty impressive. He has a car company that is easily the most talked about of any car company and really put the electric car on the map, he has also made the public interested in space again and is

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Instead of running one simple qemu command for each vm you instead have hundreds of lines of xml split into many different files. Files you need to run through libvirts session manager that needs to impleme

I think the decline has to do with us not trusting Google anymore. They used to be this cool company that everyone wanted to work at but these days they are just looked at as this big behemoth that has taken control of the internet, harvest

Yeah this is the part I don't see the clear logic in. I mean how much of a persons preferences are biological vs taught/environmental behaviour. I would accept the results straight up if it's all because of biological reasons

I think the problem is more about workflow than code review per se. I have previously complained about the exact same things as this article. If you factor in your CI pipeline as well it could be hours from writing a patch until its merged
