I'm starting a project in Phoenix in the next week or so and am excited. I have done little web work and what I have done was using ASP.NET MVC so it is different than what I'm used to.

Thanks for the response. Would you say that your team is above average when it comes to skill? I'm worried about hiring somebody off the street and having to teach them from the ground up

Interesting. How long did it take you to get up and running with Elixir to where you felt productive? I'm working on a new project and am thinking of using Elixir/Phoenix but my worry is when we hire that it will be harder to find

I started in 2015 and launched an early access in November of 2016. The product wasn't hard to make, per se, but I was stuck in analysis paralysis. Plus I went through a bout or two of depression which took away my time as well as I wa

I would start by investing in myself. I would put 100K away so I could do whatever I wanted for a year if things go south (aka invest in my free time), I'd pay off my debt (around 100k) and I'd get a top of the line computer syste

Most market exchanges, more specifically CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange). They use FIX Protocol for their API but they don't follow their own spec and so it is just guessing as what they actually want.

I'm in the Midwest and I'm also not good at marketing but I'm learning marketing as I go and still made my product. Just do it because what's the worse that could happen?

There was a Wired article [0] that had the writer in a Jeep driving down the highway while two hackers (who were part of the article) were able to shut down the Jeep. If that is happening already I wouldn't want to open my car to any m

Thanks for your feedback. I never really thought about the skills transferring but looking at it the low level optimization that would occur when researching compilers would give me a leg up on positions that would require that kind of work

The thing that worries me is that there are somewhat limited compiler jobs and so if I have to wait for one the PhD would hurt me as my specialty would not be something that is every day stuff.
