I really liked aspects of my Windows Phone but there were other things that just drove me crazy. It would lock up when I was on a call and I wouldn't be able to do anything. I'd have to pull the battery in order to get it back to

I'm curious as to why you think WebOS on your TV sucks? I too have it and am content with it. To be fair, though, I don't have any other smart TV OS experience to compare it to. I really enjoyed the HP Touchpad with WeBOS but ther

To me, Erlang syntax is odd and a put off. However, I am digging Elixir and diving into Erlang when need be for OTP functionality not yet wrapped by Elixir.

I don't think Niantic was responsible for the decline but just the game itself was. It only garnered the attention it did because of the Pokemon name but at the end of the day the game was a grind. I saw a lot of people lose interest b

Thanks for your response, I'll take a look at GnuCOBOL. As to why I want to do COBOL development, I think there are interesting problems. I enjoy working on an existing product and all that comes along with it (bug fixes, enhancements,

How does one typically get into doing what you do? I spent my career (just 6 years) doing C# but mainframes really interest me. I did some COBOL back at my last job and liked it but don't know how to break into that segment of industry

Avalonia is in alpha right now and I would not trust a production desktop application with an alpha GUI toolkit. It is entirely possible to get frameworks like GTK# working on .NET Core but the problem is who is going to do that?

Until .NET Core starts supporting GUI frameworks there will always be a use case for Mono. I can get up and running with GTK# relatively quickly for a cross-platform desktop application using Mono when that isn't the case for .NET Core

Unfortunately you aren't able to do that from Linux. It is a write once, compile everywhere language. If you want iOS and macOS you need to have a Mac to compile. Same goes with Windows. Here is a list of all platforms that the Free Pa

For cross platform I've started looking at Free Pascal with Lazarus. It uses the native GUI so it looks like a MacOS app and also a Windows app. It also has support for Android and iOS. It may get passed over by most because it is base

Thanks for the link, but the issue is deploying non-phoenix apps. There are tons of documentation (well relatively tons) on Phoenix app and deployment but console apps in Elixir have very little around that I have found.
