Reading this, I felt real anger at our society. I have 1 year old twin girls and I am genuinely scared and saddened by the limitations that paranoid adults are going to put on us as parents, and them as children. We live in a world driven b

This rings true for me. I studied product design in school, in a program run by IDEO. David Kelley was my advisor. Yet, working in the web world, I don't call myself a "designer". Why? Because I'm not focused on the visu

I started giggling with the first numberwang. As it kept happening, the giggle escalated into full out laughter that just kept getting stronger. I am sure I've seen the numberwang sketch, but don't remember it, so reference was wo

For me, and I think most people who get excited about it, performance isn't what attracts me to React. It is the semantics (is that even the right word?). The nice way it lets me think about things. It looks to me like htmlbars is hand

I haven't handled routing yet, a lot of people seem to use https://github.com/flatiron/director , which I would probably do. This is the one area where I missed something from Ember. For models, I've just roll

I attempted to use Ember in side projects for quite a while, really dove in. Sadly, I never got productive with it. My conclusion was that Ember works for super smart people with a background in traditional MVC UI architecture (different th

It is a Chrome Packaged App. This is nice, because it has built in auto-update. The way to do a desktop app using web technologies that feels more "real" is with node-webkit: https://github.com/rogerwang/node-

This was built as a Chrome Packaged App. There are some plusses and minuses with them. The fact that you have most of a desktop experience, with auto-updating, is really nice. The fact that there are some critical differences, that are conf
