I have DDG as the default search in Safari (because Kagi is not an option, maybe it requires profit sharing with Apple?) and I often end up using DDG out of convenience while being a Kagi subscriber. I agree there is not a lot of differenti

If you have this problem, leave one of those stone eggs in the nesting box to help them break the habit.

These days I see Conda (and micromamba) used as a reliable cross-platform winget/apt/yum/brew. For example, to install GDAL. uv replaces pip, conda and pip have been complementary for a long time. But I would be surprised if

I tried out duckdb-spatial for a hobby project and my takeaway is the main thing it offers over geopandas is performance in batch processing. If I can reduce my spatial analysis to SQL and optimize that SQL a little bit, duckdb will happily

Buenos Aires to Montevideo is ~200km so I guess they are going to Colonia del Sacramento, ~50km.

You are right, of course. To add more context, the point of the original quote* (and the paraphrase) is to draw attention to an ironic situation and perhaps offer some hope that the situation is fundamentally solvable. * https://e

To paraphrase a quote ;) This country is the second largest in the world and filled mainly of forests. Only an organizing genius could produce a shortage of land and construction materials at the same time.

I recently updated Pop OS to the Cosmic Alpha and it is much more to my liking than Gnome 3 ever was. I have an older Nvidia GPU though.

No, I was looking in the wrong place in the settings: "search" > "advanced" > "custom bangs". I see now you can assign a bang directly when you make a custom assistant. Very handy!

!code will get you into the proper code assistant. I'd love it if it supported custom assistants though. For example, !joost (the name of my AI language tutor) Edit: I got this working.

True, but to be fair the statutory notice period is for the pay, not access to the internal messaging systems.

What are bricks good at? Are they purely aesthetic? Structurally speaking, concrete and wood clearly have their place, bricks just seem like a worse concrete to me.

I agree with the daily upper limit (though coffee/tea can extend it...) But don't discount the amount of creative problem-solving that happens in the back of your head after-hours. This roughly stays constant in a 4-day week.
