It makes me wonder- what would happen if we had wealth taxes on cash, but the money went to... no one?

You could argue that burning plain quid efficiently distributes the value back to the other holders of quid (deflation). Burning a million quid in some thing like housing, on the other hand, selfishly removes wealth from society and the eco

I agree the zero-sum mentality sucks. It introduces really nasty dynamics in society and in the workplace. But extreme inequality is also very unhealthy for society. People with less get exploited. People with more feel entitled to exploit

Ha! Although you could also argue that the transition is from twelve to thirteen ("three-ten"). On the other hand, in english, there is "score" for 20.

Hmm for some reason I always thought it was a shortening of "motorised pedestrian" haha. On the other hand, I have seen models with holes next to the transmission that can accept a pair of removable pedals stowed under the seat. C

It's not an issue for the fruits, vegetables, eggs, grains, "cured" meats, or many cheeses that I buy at the grocery store. Relying on natural barriers to keep things from breaking down does limit shelf life, but its not a fo

In South East Asia, you can buy a lot of different prepared foods in banana, lotus, or bamboo leaf wrappings. Additionally, corn husks are used for wrapping tamales in Mexico. I wish I knew what the equivalent would have been in Europe. I w

I had a similar experience in university. I used to take advantage of our mathcad licence. If you specified units for the variables, you could identify mistakes in your equations and functions very quickly. For example, if you wanted meters

I can't say I have experienced what you are describing. Proper heating means that the room temp is 18-23C, so less than 37C. I guess 23C would feel warmer in higher humidity (>50%), because it inhibits your body's ability to c

Unless your air temperature is higher than your body temperature (37 deg C), won't higher humidity mean more of your heat is lost? This is why we call desert climates 'a dry heat' or 'a dry cold' in winter. Converse
