No easter eggs in Bike yet... though I should add something someday. At the moment just trying to get features in to make it a good place to work and think.

I'm Bike's developer. Thanks everyone for the comments. While I have the eyeballs I hope you don't mind me asking... I'm in process of adding autocomplete to Bike. Problem is that I generally find macOS autocomplete pain

Sorry, I'm tried web tech in previous apps. This time I wanted build native, and I don't have resources to do it all. What I would love... Take a look at Bike's file format, it's just a subset of HTML. Would love to some

I don't think it would matter, text affinity happens at texts "run" boundaries... so only where formatting changes. Doesn't matter how many attributes each run has. I think that is proper way to design the feature, but i

Writing the text editor has certainly been painful and taken me a long time. This particular feature (typing affinity) isn't actually to hard and I think could be bolted on to most existing edit editors. Really you just need to take on

Please see footnote in linked article. Like all ideas it's probably been invented many times before. But also like all ideas you need to invent, make good implementation, and then hopefully luck into people finding out a about it.

Pretty sure :) I submitted this story a month ago when Bike first released this feature and only got 3-4 upvotes. Very pleased and surprised to see it generating interest today.

It works on text "runs", so there will only ever be two choices. In the case you describe there's no way to choose only bold, or only link... you would need to revert to standard rich text dancing for that.

Is anyone aware of other apps that clone Cannon Cat's leap feature? I've always wanted to implement in my own editors, but it's never quite reached top of the list. VIM search is similar in some ways, but not sure it's r

I've been digging around and think I see what you are talking about. I see using visible codes for formatting such as ^PBbold^PB. I agree this allows for more precise text input in relation to formatting. For similar reasons that Markd

Does anyone have a good link demonstrating this? I've never run Wordstar, though I have read through manuals and screens in the past trying to make sense. My impression from skimming manuals/screens is that the approach isn't

Two thumbs up for Maine blueberries! I made my summer money from 5 years old through college raking them. Piece work, around $2.50 per 5 gallon bucket.

For saving to disk yes, but not on every keystroke. An autosave is scheduled and then the save is performed after some period of time. The underlying scheduling and behavior is provided by macOS framework code. If you add a line then rows a

If anyone digs in and profiles Bike 1.0 you'll unfortunately find that it is wasting some CPU with a timer. This will be fixed soon and is not related to underlying architecture or animations. It's me coalescing events from user d

Maybe, though I will probably just stick to macOS standard keys for now. And maybe that is ... I don't know. Anyway generally when I want to cut line I will exit into outline mode and cut.

I plan to do more with single key shortcuts in outline mode, just haven't had time to really think it through. Want to make sure I have a plan before I just start adding them.

Note that Bike does support changing font size already. I'm getting a lot of request for also adding changing the underlying font. Will likely add that sooner then later now since lots of people seem to need.

Unlikely to be built directly into Bike editor. I have thoughts (no plans yet) about plugin API that can use web view as output layer. The idea being that an outliner can be used for many things. For example you can create a calendar where
