Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it likely that the angels involved also make up a strong percentage of the people who invest on Demo Day in post-YC companies? Yes, I believe so. How can it be a "PG vs Angels" situation when the partie

I don't think anybody's stated interests should be taken as an indicator of their true interests. I agree. (actually I'd replace "taken as an indicator" with "taken as an absolute indicator") In this case, with PG, I do believe that his

The interesting thing is unlike that group of Angels apparently in the bar PG's interests are less about helping himself, and more about helping entrepreneurs. From an essay by PG entitled "Why YC": The real reason we started Y Combinator

Dried figs, or what might be in a fig newton, well... you're on your own on that one. err, that's what I was most interested in... I've eaten an entire pack of fig newtons in one sitting.

But at the end of the day, it, just like horoscopes, is preying on the stupid. Okay, I take issue with that. It actually pisses me off. Unlike horoscopes you are not led to think you'll receive something which is not actually delivered. T

It is discriminatory to treat someone differently because of an attribute they have which they cannot change. So, for example, I shouldn't refuse to photograph weddings of same-sex couples, or midgets, or disabled persons etc. I could ea

I did notice you said "helping". The reason I continued with the post is I still think what PG does, his money, influence, etc. has little if anything to do with the power shift, even in the context of helping it. VCs (and Angels to an exte

I enjoyed this article, but I would suggest a minor correction: PG is phenomenal, but I don't believe he is responsible for shifting the balance of power from investors to founders. I think that's a function of technology and the Internet i

No, I'm the last person to "twist the world" to my views. I believe in observation and evidence. Do I have a theory that there is a correlation between religion and violence? Yes. Have I explored that correlation beyond glancing at a few ch

That's a good point. Interestingly, that religion is Muslim. But if we compare countries with similar GDP the U.S. is put to shame. Even Germany beats us for being less violent, and less religious.

Just like with your earlier post, I agree with almost everything you say. My one sticking point here is this: A Great Unknown exists with things in it that will highly interest us and affect our lives. "Things" in it? Hard to say. Depends

Faith that a Creator exists without verifiable proof is inherently unchangeable -- that's why it's called faith. How one chooses to arrive at, or express that faith certainly may be subject to change.

It didn't occur to me that the source of the OP's confusion might be that he/she is a non-native English speaker. The "much less" idiom simply seemed a poor choice to use in a sentence focusing on quantities.
