Content is absolutely the best word for most of the shit they are shoveling. I would never use this term to describe a musician or author though I admit it isn't possible to objectively prove the difference and I wouldn't be surpr

Yes it would be that easy in Hollywood. I’d be willing to bet my entire net worth that even 200 years from now it will still seem absurd to put a drilling rig with multiple living humans onto Europa. Too bad I have no way to collect, much l

That can still happen, it doesn't have to happen at the summit where they are literally working out the future of windows security.

If you invite the press to the summit, the real meeting will happen somewhere else, because productive meetings do not happen in public. Public stages are for posturing and soundbites.

That should be the approach if you already working in a kitchen-sink project where every possible way of doing the same thing already has several examples, but if the project currently has 0 for loops in the codebase, I think you can say th

I can use a mobile hotspot on my phone basically everywhere I go. Public Wifi is most often garbage throughput compared to 5g.

Why do you want to spend money on hardware to solve a software problem? The software doesn't have to write the logs to the SD card.

I think its worse than that because they don't actually have to log so much. This is choice a developer made, but it would cost nothing (except salary for competent staff) to make the correct choice.

I've often wondered about this. I'm guessing large customers can all negotiate extremely deep discounts on bandwidth from all three providers. Smaller customers may not be paying that much in bandwidth that it would be decisive. I

That's a neat video but I think that usage of euphemism is a little different, based on how they used it in the video. I'd call that more of a "dog-whistle" - you use a term like "war on terror" because your ba

"She" refers to the person who furnished the quote in the comment I replied to. She is not a judge, she is a lobbyist.

There is virtually no chance that she thinks that. What she thinks is that she is funded by businesses that like to suppress wages, and non-competes are one tool to do that with. The quote is called "public relations", which is bi

In TFA it says X told the court that they had failed to follow its orders previously because of operational deficiencies. GP is not really going out on a limb here.

I've never had Postgres "go down". It might if you run out of disk space, but that is going to be a bad time with any database. It is not "competing for resources" when it is running the workload your app is sending

I think GP is asking if there are any new ideas in it. I'm also curious if it is a fork of something or truly greenfield development?

"Make shit up that sounds plausible" is actually not a useful strategy for running real world operations. Yet so many people are so certain as you are - when all they've seen is a convincing bullshit artist.

It would not even be that hard to fix it; private forks should always just be automatically copied on first write. You might lose your little link to the original repo, but that's not as bad as unintentionally exposing all your future

I'm also wondering about the extent to which we are simply burning venture capital versus actually charging subscription prices that are sustainable long-term. Its easy to sell dollars for $0.75 but you can only do that for so long.

The problem with C++ is you just don't know what you don't know. But you know there is a lot of it. A good framework certainly helps but it doesn't solve this basic problem.
