One thing that is often forgotten is the difference between the cost of electricity at the power plant, and the price of electricity in the power plug in the household. The difference is that the grid provides constant electricity at 60Hz 2

The LGPL is great for software libraries written in C, but doesn't really work for any other programming language. It uses concepts like object files and linking that assumes C. Even in C++ which is closely related you get issues with

The analogy is a bit strong. You make it sound like the CLA is a limitation to the product. But the CLA doesn't't limit the product in any way.

Yes, with minor changes. A few variables need to be renamed, a few cast need to be added. Some churn for sure on such big codebase, but doable nevertheless. GCC did it, other projects did it, I don't see why the kernel can't.

Is Fair Source a super set of Open Source? On other words, is any open source license automatically a fair source. For every open source project, the source is available, under an open source license after 0 days, and usable and modifiable

There are companies whose business model is to offer professional services around the software they produce. In this case, this clause means that they can't use that license to prevent such competition.

Does it work? (Do you know of big companies with a ban on AGPL are using your software with the fair source license?) Another possibility is to make it available under several licenses: AGPL + free but restricted licence.

From what I understand, the problem was not caused by an update of the driver itself, but an update of a config file that the driver uses. As an OS author, how could you possibly know what to rollback when this is just an unrelated file fro
