Can you clarify your actual budget? Or is it $0? For email, I found Migadu [0] this year and love them. It’s ~$50/year, but for that you get unlimited mailboxes. The limit is on how many emails/day you send. This might suit your n

Same find, in Australia. But they (Commonwealth) wouldn’t entertain any swapping of details. I was just on the phone to the service centre and I thought all was lost ... but of course they said “just take it to any of our branches and we’

The boss likes his Surface Pro as much as it’s possible for a Unix guy to like Windows. Flipping to touch mode on the plane and churning through emails — mostly read & delete — is a favourite. I’m in the ‘get your fingers off my screen’

Agreed. Any sufficiently large organisation is, by definition, staffed by average people. Why would we expect that organisation, as a whole, to be above average?

“Short timeline” assumes you didn’t see 64-bit coming a couple of years ago. Not saying it isn’t work, just that “I didn’t see it coming” isn’t much of an excuse.

I live in Melbourne where cyclists and trams co-exist quite happily. It’s unusual for someone to be hurt by a tram. Contrast with the carnage that is cars v. bikes in London.

My untested theory re: trams over buses is that trams are predictably less random. You’re a tourist. You board a bus. Where does the bus go? A: literally anywhere. You’re a tourist. You board a tram. Where does the tram go? A: where those t

Couldn’t resist a dig at Apple in a totally unrelated thread, eh? You know you can use any monitor you like. You don’t have to buy their $6,000 monitor. I’ve used Macs happily for years and have yet to spend that much on a monitor or a stan

I use this with Peter Lowe’s blocklist [0]. I’d share the exact setup but I’m not near my Mac just now. It’s great, but I also use 1Blocker — have since its release, also use it on iOS — and I think it does most of the work. I’ve only rec

Same way I feel about security domains at work: you either have to trust encryption, or never use any network. It’s that binary. At work I’ll see people — the security team, usually — taking some already-encrypted thing and re-hardening it
