I've never made the exact criticisms above but I've got the solution. Taking the money from Google is fine. Stop spending it all. The CEO doesn't need an inflated salary, Mozilla is not a tech giant. Mozilla doesn't need

They had a super easy way out of it: another referendum voting for options, or a referendum on any deal. Nobody could agree on what leaving meant and giving the choice to the electorate would have a) been more democratic and b) probably hav

This prediction isn't about climate change, it's about the formation of a new super continent. Because it'll be such a large landmass, and the energy from the sun increases by about 1% every 100 million years, the inner parts

You put an amusing picture in my head of "I've found most productive and rewarding to me - in person" showing up at the office and finding it empty. Do they then start visiting their colleagues at their homes, pestering them

So you give one point that makes you sound anti-WFH, but then you caveat that with a lot of other information that makes your position pretty vague - i.e. taking a job where you really cannot be in the office, and will be in a separate time

If you lease an office and now your employees are working from home, does it actually make a difference? You leased it for X years, regardless of where people are working. If you're hiring then it is an opportunity to hire more office

We switched from cypress to capybara+selenium. I do really like playwright but it looked like more work to fit in with our app. Cypress had some flakiness issues that we just could not get fixed despite putting in considerable effort. Even

I've never heard a credible explanation of free will or what someone means by that. Can you offer a description of what free will means, within known science? I think it through several layers. At a personality layer most of the time y

I don't like the turns on red, it makes things a little harder. Here, where we don't have that rule, they put in a little cutaway lane on the intersections where you can turn to avoid the lights. Usually with a stop sign or a merg

ISO is supposed to be the sensitivity of the film to light, and the numbers were set by a standards organisation so I'm not sure you can double the number to double the effect. Also, how does this even work on a digital camera? Surely

Yes I don't disagree with any of that, I was just commenting that Ukraine probably couldn't have resisted nearly so well with just small arms. I sincerely hope western govts continue to support them and wish they/we had done

I got the largest electric one I could find. It's pretty good, entirely metal housing so it won't fall apart, and no gas or oil to deal with. I don't know if 120v vs 240v makes a difference in that regard for Americans who wa

Ukraine seemed to do it with MANPADs and anti-tank equipment over small arms. Unless you're counting those, but that doesn't seem like the kind of weapons ordinary Americans have at home.

I've been using it since March 2022. Right from the beginning the results were better, I didn't have to append my country to every search when I wanted a local business. It's not always that snappy though.
