From my anecdotal experience: no. It is arcane, user hostile and buggy. And performance for many workloads is roughly in line with open source databases. Some of the tooling around it is nice and it has some nice features but I would not re

Only part of the backdoor was in the source code. It was split like that between the tarball and the code to hide it better. But, yes, with reproducible builds they could have put all of it in the source.

Musk is likely a worse engineer than Bezos and less technical. So that is probably not the reason. What Musk instead is is an excellent salesman. But maybe he was just lucky. Whatever it was it was not engeeeing which is a big weakness of M

One possible reason is to allocate a static global area. Without read-only protection of memory you could write to that area.

Isn't the original inclusion of the auto keyword more in line with what you expect from design by committee? Including a keyword which serves no purpose other than theretical completeness?

Yeah, why detain and treat people badly when you should just send them back home on the first available flight and then ban them from using the ESTA program? The pointless and expensive cruelty is the issue.

I have never understood the trans women in sports thing. I see why it could be unfair to allow them to compete but that is a thing I would like the sports associations to handle. Being born with a male body could be a big advantage in some

Because you need to proof read it and correct issues. Every time I have tried using LLMs to document something non-trivial there have been fundamental misunderstandings. And those are easy for the orginal author of the code to fix.

This is not the first time Mozilla bought an ad company, last time it was Qlikz. And last time it cost them most of their German users. Wonder how many users they will lose this time.
