One of the PostgreSQL devs managed to corrupt Btrfs about 2 years ago when working on async IO. Is that recent enough?

It was still an entirely new and experimental feature which had not been properly reviewed. Why couldn't this feature wait until next kernel version? Other file systems have had their recovery tools improved over many years.

Kent wanted to merge new features after the merge window had been closed (bundled with a bug fix) and Linus said no and since this was not the first time Kent tried to do something like that people got angry at him. And since Kent refused t

Maybe Linus should have acted sooner but this is exactly what happened. Linus refused to bend the rules for Kent and things got heated and eventually Kent was banned from submitting patches and Bcachefs was removed.

No, this is a pure people problem which would have happened no matter the state of Bcachefs. Kent refuses to respect other people's time and rules since that would require him to change how he works.

What he actually did was that he bundled the fix for the critical issue with dubugging tools and a totally new experimental feature. I totally get why they stopped working with him.

I suggest you look into what pg_upgrade actually does because the "code handling upgrading" does not exist other than as pg_upgrade. And writing it would be a ton of work and would likely halt a lot of innovation in PostgreSQL and

I don't think so. What do you need it for if I may ask? If some people actually need a patch it is much more likely to get people working on it to make it committable.

That is mostly an issue with the official docker image, not a PostgreSQL issue. Upgrading to a new major is easy if you use the Debian packages and is fine with a couple of minutes downtime. There is no reason a docker image could not do th

My experience with Zed was that it was a buggy mess with strange defaults. I had high hopes until I tried it but it was not even close to working for my pretty normal use case of coding C so I went back to Sublime.

Why? During rush hour buses transport like 100 people each. That is a lot of cars that would congest the roads.

Working on trains is also often nice so you do not really lose much time. You can just do a normal workday at the train including lunch and then quit working for the day when you arrive.

A lot of modern medicine is based on just correlations and an more or less educated guess. I do not think ignoring them makes sense, it is just that the reporting needs to be more clear and less sensationalist.

No, Kent has generally had a nice tone. The issue is that he has repeatedly violated the rules about code contributions. For example by including new features together with several bug-fixes during rc. That is not a CoC issue, it is not res
