Before we used docker I'd spend hours troubleshooting team members local development environments. Once we switched to a common source controlled docker-compose file all those problems simply went away.

I don't mind paying monthly fees for tools that I get regular value out of. But I hate that feeling of paying for ongoing subscriptions that I rarely use. Plus deciding whether or not to cancel adds to my overall decision fatigue.

I take the same approach. Compared to something like amazon reviews the information tends to be more reliable. I'm sure there are plenty of paid shills but my sense is that most people who post on reddit aren't trying to sell you

I switched to an iPhone SE recently and it seems to be the best of both worlds. Uber, GPS, and internet are there if I need them, but that tiny screen makes aimless browsing much less tempting.

I feel like the service would be spotty enough that it would only work around takeoff and landing anyway. I've accidentally left my phone on several times while flying and never had service. Not sure if it was due to the altitude/
