My thoughts exactly. And couldn’t an attacker just fill the logging volume with uninteresting events to prevent certain other events from being recorded?

Lambda ends when you return. That's the contract. Bro needs a dose of mechanical sympathy and intellectual vulnerability.

That’s my point, there is no best-first choice for everything. There will always be trade-offs. But Postgres makes the right trade-offs to be good enough in almost every scenario.

"use Postgres for everything" is certainly wrong, eventually. It's still the second-best choice for every new project, and most products will never see the traffic levels that justify using something more specialized. Obvious

direnv also has `dotenv` and `dotenv_if_exists` macros, which nicely gets around the fact that `.env` files typically omit the `export` statement.

I don't get `.env` files. Just never made sense that we'd delegate managing environment variables to the processes which consumes them. https://direnv.net is a better solution IMO. Once you set it up in your shell, it

I hadn't heard of tokei before, so I tried it on a small project of mine. Tokei _finishes_ before cloc can print its help text. I wrote this post in less time than it took `cloc .` to count all the files in my project, probably because

Glad there’s finally a name for this phenomenon. Effect.js particularly egregious in this area. In my own libraries, I’ve definitely found myself producing less-than-perfect type safety because the readability tradeoff was too great. Overal

I miss the old internet, when every article didn't have a goofy image at the top just for "optimization." With the exception of photography in reporting, it's all a waste of time and bandwidth. Most if it wasn't bes

A company which is even moderately "OK" at IT will already have the means to instantly lock and securely wipe devices of any employee at a moments notice. Doing this during a RIF is a hell of a lot better than making the mail room

I don’t intend this to be mean, but is this satire? Confetti seems to proudly use concepts which are very much NOT popular right now. For example, you’ve reintroduced the Norway Problem. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=
