Seems like an odd place for the USO to be; are there any troops there that need support?

They don't have the same results if x is signed (-1 >> 1 gives you -1; -1 / 2 typically gives you 0). A compiler worth its salt will optimize x / 2 appropriately. For unsigned, it will emit the shift; for signed, it will generate (x

Reminds me of some sites that turn off right click on images via Javascript to keep one from saving them... too bad for them that Firefox lets one turn off Javascript. As bdfh42 said, all this succeeds in doing is irritating people--worst c

"PHP makes writing clean code a challenge..." If that works for you, great, but it sounds like a reason to stay as far away from PHP as possible to me.

Hmmm. How does one automate CSS testing? I guess Javascript may be able to peek into the DOM and check whether things have the correct color, radius of the corners on the boxes, etc., but how can one automatically determine whether layout i

I would add that CACM isn't what it used to be. Nobody's fault, just the result of an expanding field of study. Back in the day, many classic papers would appear in CACM. Nowadays, they'd more likely appear in a SIG publication.

I'm happy with Bodhi Linux on my netbook. The initial install is ascetic (which I guess is appropriate), but one can easily pull in other apps. E17 provides a beautiful desktop with low overhead, and Bodhi configures it so that things just

What compile options were used? Dead code elimination might throw away the parsing, leaving just the I/O; I don't see anything that actually uses the parsed line.

I moved to Android solely because Sprint and then HP itself had thrown webOS under the bus, but every day I wish I had the webOS UI. With webOS it's obvious which apps are running: it's running iff it has a window, and flicking the window u
