This depends on the book (or perhaps the publisher). For example, I just bought the Illuminatus Trilogy in one cheap paperback, and it’s got a terrible typeface, it looks like a smeared typewriter. But all other books I’ve bought the past

This. I would gladly play a bit more for acid-free paperbacks that don’t turn yellow and brittle. I am concerned what my current book collection will look like in 10-20 years, and for this reason have been considering hardbacks over paperba

On the Everest comparison, the difference is Everest climbers primarily risk their own lives as people who agreed to make the climb. Whereas Cannonballers risk the lives of everybody sharing the road with them. Ie, regular drivers who have

Not at all, it’s a drastic change in meaning in title between original article and HN. Given the huge breadth of complaints against the butterfly keyboard, the title saying that the keyboard of a ‘new’ MacBook is the same as the ‘old’ MacBo

HN should change the title. The actual article title ends with “just the old, good keyboard”. Leaving out the word “good” changes the entire meaning.

I wrote the second half of the draft of my novel (kids Sci-Fi) on my iPhone on the train to/from work (scrivener app). I could get in the zone and just tap away. Now editing, that’s a whole different ballgame. I find editing very hard

I seriously don’t understand why this post has been modded down, currently at -1. Seems inline with the rest of the anti-pollution sentiment on this thread. Here’s info on ULEZ Phase 2 Expansion, which I really want to see implemented :

Heathrow has higher flight density, no 3rd runway. The real issue is that they put east-west airport runways due east/west of the centroid of population. It’s almost as if they wanted the airports to maximally affect as many Londoners

Mentioned this above but taxis are not allowed to idle their engines waiting at taxi stands. You can kindly ask them to turn off their engine (most do without argument). Or you can also take photographs and report them to the TfL.

This is a good start but needs to go further. There are plans to extend the ULEZ all the way to the North and South Circular ring roads, which will really make an impact. But won’t happen until Oct 2021. Hopefully the good results here may

Not sure why you think this. In New a Jersey back in 1986 my 6th grade class read the short story “The Wave”. We knew it was based on a real school event and talked about it afterwards. I think we might have even read it again in 8th grade.
