1) this is not just "an antivirus". VirusTotal is a website where you go and upload a suspicious file, and they scan it. Also, this says nothing about the file being "public searchable", it says it's made available for security industry pro

I was a bit surprised to see no meniton of security. Any website checklist that includes backups because "your website data is too precious" should have a security assessment on that checklist.

You've made an important distinction here - variations of the LNK zero-day exploit used by stuxnet to propagate were first identified in late 2008. This should not be confused with the idea that Stuxnet has been around for that long.
