Also just as important as all of the above is a strong contribution to documentation and community - easy start guides, sample web applications that are more than just a TODO list, forums, email lists, etc.

Fitness tracking and notifications are the two "killer apps" for my Apple Watch. It's exciting that Pebble has now added fitness to its existing notifications capability, especially now that they are working with Stanford. I&

Drupal's a little strange in that every major release (Drupal 5,6,7,8) is incompatible with the previous major release, so all of the contributed modules need to be rewritten or updated. In practice, this means that if you are going to

Realistically, the selling point of Drupal is the strong integration between the front end and the back end - if Headless Drupal becomes the norm, there won't be a lot of good reasons to deploy Drupal on the back-end instead of say, Ra

The Pagespeed Insights API is pretty easy to use, if anyone is interested in Pagespeed Insights as a service. I built an Android app for it as sort of a proof-of-concept back when Holo was a thing, and it was very straight forward. I'm

Realistically speaking, moving into technology as a supporting role for existing companies and governments works pretty well. That's how I rode out the last tech downturn. Nowadays, there's still so much demand for technical skill

Exciting to see the Apple Pencil/Smart Keyboard - this appears to be very similar to the Surface Pro 3, leaving the ball in Microsoft's court for their Surface Pro 4. (Leaving aside all the differences in software)

I think that if you look at elance/odesk/upwork, you can actually rule out all of those developers because they get paid through the upwork platform - they wouldn't be sending invoices based on their git history. They might h

It depends completely on what you're doing. Probably the most important difference before you get any traffic is that Digital Ocean is selling you a standard Linux box, no magic required.

Camping? You could camp out at McDonald County Park, if you bought a couple of cheap tents and gear from Walmart. Convenient for Sand Hill Road, but not really convenient for SF. You'd need a car. Otherwise, I'd second the AirBNB

I built a peer-to-peer ad-hoc iOS app based on multipeer connectivity called MapRhino that's meant for use in the car on road trips - that and airplanes are basically the only places left with no reliable wifi/network connections

Yes - if you're interested in Android development, it's definitely the best language to use to get started. Java can be a little clunky, but once you learn Java you can pretty easily learn the basics of C#, for instance.

Hi, I saw Sam Fox at his talk at SXSW 2013, and I'm a highpointer myself (been to about 17 of the high points of the 50 states), and I'm not sure what would really make it that interesting. It's a pretty obscure little hobby,

I don't think most of the entrants expected to succeed, so that's not too big a surprise. Even in a "runnable" 100 mile ultra marathon, only about 50-70% usually finish the race. You can see some stats here: http:/
