Have you considered FreshBooks recurring billing? I ask because I am interested. For the record, we are currently using Chargify -- had the same issue with Braintree (Chargify does not support v2) so switched to Auth.net

This only scales if the value of the property appreciates and allows you to refi and purchase another property with the equity. If the value goes down, the cash flow will as well.

You can make the market timing argument for any property. Like I said, I bought in Detroit area in Jan '08. Look at the numbers, the timing was awful. The purchase itself, was not.

A better way to invest your money in real estate is to purchase a primary residence and (with some cosmetic improvements) sell the house (after 2 years) for a tax-free gain. You get the obvious mortgage deduction, while living there as well

The truth is that most people sell when the market is getting killed and buy when the market is running up. It is human nature to follow the crowd. Savvy investors can make several hundred % returns buying during crashes and bear markets.

I am sure when they were looking to raise money they spent a good amount of time selling themselves, their product and getting known. This is not about spending money on advertising, rather, its about 'getting noticed.'
