Absolutely everything in this industry is just a façade over the underlying ability to pass current between the source and the drain of transistors. "Just a better way to do ______" is the entire software sector.

Slide 17 is the one people should read before they get on their blog complaining that their emails are rejected by Google and Microsoft. The entities associated with your domain and network, the DNS hosts, registrars, network blocks, and al

Because their whole system relies on national registries of place names, and the US national registry of place names renamed this place.

The market is 2-sided. They can "seek" whatever they want but they are going to get the clearing price.

Fun fact: in RealPage's brief about the Berkeley law they cited my work that shows rents in Berkeley declining. They never had the power to artificially set rents.

There are fundamental issues here and I think the article only touched on a few. On the software side this completely blows up the whole virtual memory concept. We will need different operating systems.

Isn't Intel effectively betting the farm on this right now? Other than stacking technology, what do they have that's even a little interesting?

I think the model can even evaluate itself. If it looks afterward at an output like "do you. Want to get lunch?" in the absence of affirmative evidence that the user wanted it that way, it should be able to see that it goofed.

I imagine the discussion will center around this application of AI, but to me this is just the Nth proof of the proven fact that you must build ffmpeg, if you insist on using it, with only an allow-list of file formats that you expect to en

I am not sure if "Word Error Rate" captures what has always been wrong with transcription. My biggest complaint is that it inserts sentence breaks in random places, then fails to evaluate the result, even though it is obviously wr

Knuth's base- e proposal enters the chat. They were right about everything 50+ years ago, but they didn't have the budget for the right hardware, had to write conference papers and books instead.

It looks cool and I am building it r.n. but the submission title was a little misleading as it says "container ... runtime" right there, and I guess it is, but it is not a CRI implementation.

Whenever wires don't make sense, as is the case for aircraft, synthetic liquid fuels can make sense. In a world where the inputs are free, the inefficiency of the process is not relevant.

Why would we compare it to an 8-year-old design? For browsing, the current MBP smokes the MBN, by margins of roughly one-third. It is a significant and noticeable regression. For sustained workloads like software development or even runni

Is raw perf considered Apple's moat? I think it's their software. I would buy a MacOS laptop even if the performance is ghastly ... in fact, I did: the MacBook Neo.

How are we supposed to take this stuff seriously if the author (sic) isn't even willing to write the readme? Claude exists! If I want some slop I can push the button myself.
