I think it's pretty unfair to call this situation Guido's fault. Python 3 was developed with a significant amount of feedback from the community, and it was in development for years before being released. At multiple points in the process

Well, that seals the deal. Bummer. I really hoped Armin would come around, and I committed to Werkzeug for a new project with eyes on 3. This was a direct result of the PEP 3333 acceptance, and I apparently backed the wrong horse. The worst

I use unittest (and the 2.7 features backported in unittest2) unconditionally over doctest. I don't think I'm alone there, as most of the Python devs I know do the same thing. The learned skill of unit testing the Java way carried over nice

Oracle doesn't need money. License Oracle Database if you don't believe me. It's silly to imply that Oracle brought this suit against Google just to score a few bucks, but easy to say when you dislike Oracle. The alternative, and very likel

Your comment leaks quite a bit of bias against Oracle. You'd be just as frustrated if someone violated licensing on a tiny part of your software, then relicensed it and gave it to OEMs for worldwide distribution. In fact, I'd wager that you

The 'hidden' comments are based on a per-user threshold. My brief Reddit experience improved significantly when I raised said threshold.

Not quite. That filters out the bad ones, but the underlying problem still remains: people reply to highly-ranked comments with something only tangentially related, or not related at all, in order to put it in front of a wider audience. Peo

The Reddit community actually speaks of this phenomenon in threads addressed to new members ("things you should know about Reddit", etc). They say that once there's several long threads with a lot of upvotes, you're better off not commentin

You're using 'other languages' as an awfully broad brush, as that certainly isn't true for all languages with the exception of Perl. No language requires an IDE, either.

The title is a tiny bit misleading. The one on the article is better. I was confused at first because he's reinventing UINavigationBar, not custom back buttons - back buttons are occasionally part of that reinvention, however.

Since you and goldenthunder completely missed this, allow me to clarify that OP could have been critiquing the project's choice of variable names and I would have said the exact same thing. My statement wasn't about tests in the slightest.

I'm not seeing how my statement has anything to do with TDD. OP was very harsh in his critique, whether it be valid or not (which I never said anything about), and that's all I was making a point about. Going from there to my supposed 'lack
