Perhaps my biggest complaint is that until recently, Python-2.x releases were not packaged with an executable named "python2", thus during the transition to Python-3.x, there is no safe way to specify which major version your script require

The final figure claims less than 0.3 general practitioners per 100,000. That would amount to around 1000 general practitioners in the country which is at least two orders of magnitude low.

VM is also useful to handle fragmentation and to map parts of a large "array" to different NUMA nodes (so that it can be accessed by several threads without overloading a single memory channel). In a multi-process system, if you get rid of

You think a phone is a good way to interact with a computer? There is exactly one reason why I love my phone: it fits in my pocket. When I'm in a location where a larger device is convenient, rest assured that I am not working on my phone.

Sometimes with technical material, I read the same paragraph multiple times. If the footnote is really an "aside", I can just read it once and not have it clutter the paragraph when I'm rereading.

Yes, even glibc malloc is usually around 400 cycles (about 150 nanoseconds) in my tests.

The retailer will ship other products by the same company? A lot of other electronics products have more equitable international pricing models and value that can be assessed more objectively.

Round-trip latencies for small MPI messages are typically a couple microseconds over InfiniBand, under 10 microseconds for 10G Ethernet without TCP, and a bit more when going through TCP.

The retailer may to agree not to ship internationally. A lot of outdoor gear companies require this so they can price independently in different countries, it seems at least plausible that these companies do the same.

T-mobile has a month-to-month contract if you own your phone, you can discontinue at any time and it's $20 cheaper per month than a 2-year contract. Not prepaid, but no 2-year crap either.

Floating point is not the problem, it's memory issues mostly due to C defaulting to allowing aliasing. C99 has the `restrict` keyword so you can generally get identical object code from both languages. SSE intrinsics are only available from

He should probably look at tup ( http://gittup.org/tup/make_vs_tup.html ) which, when using inotify (otherwise stat must be called O(n) times), pretty much always start building (or reports nothing to do) in a few milliseconds.

The svn issue seems under-appreciated. In my experience, far and away, the best way to merge subversion branches is to pull them in with git-svn, rebase, and push back to subversion. I've done this more than once for projects that I'm onl

Thanks, I just reread the manual page and found tmux new-session -t which behaves similarly to screen -x. When I asked on IRC, I was told that tmux did not support this mode so I didn't pursue it further.
