Why are you constantly keeping bitcoins in these exchanges? If you had dollars locked up there, I could understand. i.e. you were in the process of purchasing bitcoins. But to repeatedly have your bitcoins locked up when you could have almo

I think there's really no good reason why this shouldn't happen. We're talking about potentially a significant amount of money here going to what I assume to be a good cause. (I don't know who the actual charity is, but I'd bet it's a good

A black person shooting other black people doesn't induce enough emotion in the American media's viewership to produce ratings. Pretty sad really.

Geocities was my first website! As long as no one ever sees it/knows it was me who made what was quite possibly the ugliest website in the world, all I'll have is fond memories.

Do we actually have the right to our own data in America? Or are you just saying we should have the right?

If you were to hack into someones account and take it, I would think that is illegal. Obviously if you were to steal it ingame that would not be illegal. It's almost certainly illegal to steal bitcoins. I guess I'm referring to US law here,

Sometimes the information portrayed does not represent the truth and lacks context. Truth is not what most people fear. It's absence of truth and the assumption that something is true that can do the most damage.

UO kind of had this when I played it. People would die and if they had their house/tower/castle key on them you could loot it. I'm sure EVE is at another level, but UO was something special at one point.

In this case though we would only pay in bitcoin when specifically requested by the contractor. So the contractor would bear all the risks associated with that.

Great answer. Thank you very much. Definitely making me think twice about the whole situation. edit: Sorry, just want to be clear about this part: "the notion that you're worried about a ~3% charge to transfer money to settle up a freelanci

Yes, we would be setting the rates in USD. At this point the plan would be to keep a small amount of USD in Mt.Gox and buy bitcoin at a set time and send immediately when payment is due. This is all new to me, but it seems like a reasonable

Well I'm (hopefully) going to be the one paying freelancers, so what happens with their money isn't much of my concern. No company money would ever be sitting in bitcoin for more than the few seconds it would take to transfer.

Oops. I should have elaborated there. The savings I was referring to were more from not having to pay a percentage to a freelance worker website, or not having to pay fees through paypal, as well as people seemingly willing to work for chea

All these years we've been reading on HN how Dwolla was supposed to be different than PayPal. As a passive observer I've taken their marketing message/value proposal to be specifically that they were not the type of company who would ever e
