My belief, which may be false and not informed by direct experience, is that the search appliances didn't really work that well since the hyperlink based search ranking method of the day doesn't really work on relatively small dat

I switched to the Coros Vertix from Garmin Fenix a few years ago. At the time it was because their battery life was massively better. Things have evened out since. But I've been really happy with all aspects of the Coros and it's

Your comment really triggered a trip down memory lane for me. I also remembered how crazy it is that we used to go and choose vacations out of paper catalogues at the travel agent. I also remember reading the football results for my dad on

I watched some video reviews and am definitely tempted. Cost is high though given my amateur status. I can afford it, I just don't feel worthy!

Yeah, I've noticed when reading about options that it's probably helpful to not try and find one size fits all devices. They the to cost more and yet still be compromised.

I'm at the early stages of learning photography. I've always taken lots of photos, but without much skill or care. I have an entry level DSLR and understand that the quality of my photos is almost entirely determined by my skill a

Thanks, the distinction between awareness and consciousness is definitely something I've overlooked. I tend to think of them interchangeably.

It definitely seems like aspects of conscious experience are just more parts of the world model, e.g. we experience having a continual visual view of the world through our eyes, like watching a movie, but we know that's not what is act

I'm also a cocktail philosopher, but isn't consciousness different to just having a model of the world and self within it? Consciousness is the lived experience. The world model and feeling of self appear in consciousness. I think

If you have the means to collect the data then this seems pretty tractable to me. Mostly because you don't need to deal with the raw optical data but rather just the derived trajectories. So data formats and volumes shouldn't be a

I wonder if the original intent of the feature was to lull people into a false sense of security so the data could be collected on activity people wouldn't otherwise share.

I did follow iFixit and replaced the battery and SSD. Battery life is still terrible compared to a modern laptop. It's just a limitation of 14 year old tech.

Exactly. The newer teaching materials and resources are great, but they don't change the advice in the article about how to learn programming. In fact, they might make it harder in some ways because of the temptation to take shortcuts.
