Not significantly, as I understand it. There's certainly variation in LLM abilities with different initializations but the volume and content of the data is a far bigger determinant of what an LLM will learn.

Yes, this paper is under-appreciated. The point is that we as humans decide what constitutes a given task we're going to set as a bar and it turns out that statistical pattern matching can solve many of those tasks to a reasonable leve

I had this article on the back burner the past couple of days. Low and behold when I read it my PhD supervisor (Vic Snaith) is mentioned and it has all sorts of connections to the work I did, but this is the first time I've ever heard

This is nice. I want something like this for python that I can use on remote servers and compute nodes of clusters. I've tried pudb but I find it doesn't behave well with terminal resizing and I wish the interface was a little mor

I appreciate the spirit of this essay, but I think it overstates the idea that intellectual pursuits are an escape from modern dissatisfaction. I've spent most of my life driven by curiosity, forming my identity around being someone wh

I wonder to what extent simulation can reliably test the mechanical and detonation aspects? I always imagined simulation assumed you have an explosion and you want to see the effect.

Not arguing that they solved DOTA, but "The players it played against had never played against something that behaved so weirdly." seems like a feature, not a bug. We want AI to find unexpected new ways of accomplishing tasks.
