All that is true, except the last point about GTK. Most developers that want their apps running everywhere picks Qt. GTK is just dead in this game and any developer picking GTK is restraining theirselves to GNU/Linux. Don't use

Same here. I do hundreds of queries weekly, and I very very rarely reach for !g, so I would say on my case it is way less than 1%. And even there once reaching !g I may have a 50% chance of not having any improvement on results. Been happy

It is a common mistake what you're doing by generalizing it out of the original scope, which is only performance wise. Any other aspect you might think is not encompassed into the original zero cost abstraction concept.
