I love a lot of what Musk does but thought those tweets were just insane, classless, and reprehensible. Fortunately, he's seemed to have calmed down his social media game since 2018 (thank God), but he should still absolutely have to s

I'm being lazy and don't want to dig, but does anyone know which of the AlphaStar networks (Protoss, Terran, Zerg) is best at beating the others?

As much as I'm not a fan of celebrity politicians, the situation you describe sounds pretty democratic.

I love mynoise.net so much. It first came into my life when I was a grad student and needed white noise to read scientific papers in a crowded office. Now, it's finding its way back as a generator of fantasy dungeon sounds in my DnD ca

I was having a hard time deciding which pair of glasses to buy a few years ago, so I posted a survey to mTurk with selfies in a bunch of different frames. About $20 got me ~150 responses and a clear winner. I've been fascinated with th

I thought I was pretty hip to psytrance, but I guess not because I don't recognize any of these artists. How can there be a whole psytrance guide without mentioning 1200 micrograms, Infected Mushroom, or Shpongle?

Reason is well and good, but the article linked is all about how Pinker's are arguments are not, in fact, as dispassionate and reasonable as he'd like to think

Yeah, and it fails to acknowledge that there is a long and nuanced body of work in neuroscience concerning the degree of localization vs distribution of function going back at least 100 years (see Karl Lashley, Donald Hebb)

My goal would primarily be to avoid having to make sure there's an active python installation with all the right dependencies set up on a client's computer. That's been a huge problem for me in the past during deployment (esp

I'm looking forward to try out Pyodide in Electron so that I can make use of all the great Python scientific and signal processing libraries for data processing.

Haskell is probably #1 for languages that old guard types fawn over and, yea, I think it's pretty cool, but don't ever expect to be in a situation where I get paid to write it. I really liked Racket a lot actually! It turned me on

I feel like this opinion is too popular so I just want to respectfully speak my peace. I'm a relatively new developer and I never learned any of the languages that a lot of the old guard fawns over, but after learning coding with Rack

There's a lot going on physiologically when you're getting intimate (e.g. oxytocin, testosterone), so it's hard to tell. However, I've noticed the same thing, and I'll also add a loss of appetite.

So, activity-dependent signaling cascades can cause single nucleotide substitutions during transcription? Oh my god, I remember why I left neuroscience now. Biology is just incomprehensibly, nauseatingly, complex.
