It's a matter of effort/reward. Yes, you can advertise for free or very cheap on the Internet, but it's harder to achieve the same amount of success as if you were paying and requires you to put in more work, like engaging wi

It would only take a motherboard with a PCIe slot and an unlocked bootloader to circumvent that strategy. You would use it to flash the firmware in whatever device you want to unlock and then use it on the computer with the locked bootloade

The link doesn't load (connection timed out), so I'm only going by the headline - do they also want to "lock down" software defined radios, like the HackRF?

Not if you make security your number one goal from the beginning. But "letting the community rewrite the site" would be very complicated, especially on a niche website such as Project Euler, where a lot of its users are opinionate

Besides, infecting the computers in a nuclear plant is not as easy as sending a technician a tweet with a link to the .exe or pulling a trigger thousands of miles away. We still don't know how they infected the Iranian nuclear plant, s

When you start lowering the frequency and going further, you can have a path loss exponent of up to 4, so you have to be wary of reflections from the atmosphere. [1] Radio engineering is really interesting. [1] https://en.wikiped

The amount of mathematics that goes into automating faceswaps is awesome. The fact that anyone can do this at home with the sole purpose of generating a funny image is great!

Computers might not care if text is white on white, but humans do. So just because the text is in the DOM doesn't necessarily mean it'll get indexed. It's definitely in Google's interest to fight against techniques like

The easiest way I found to describe the differences between science and engineering (and I think about this fairly often) is by analogy with learning how to drive a (manual) car. There are a few key skills one needs to master to be able to

I also assumed Mattermost supported IRC, without even checking. It's a bit disappointing that it doesn't, but I wonder how easy it'd be to add support for IRC in Mattermost, given that we have the source code?

They're not there for "no reason". For example, if I use a type defined in some external header, I definitely need to include that in the .h, so I might as well just include everything else. Besides, in my mind it's the

Why? Most of those headers are going to be guarded against multiple inclusions anyway, and it's a nice way to list the dependencies of the module.

Google is in the business of making things go very fast . I don't think the primary bottleneck in Google's speech recognition is the server load, surely they can add more processing power if that were the issue.
