Hard agree. A drunk driver hit our parked 2015 Mazda CX-5. We paid about $27,000 for it in 2016. The car was totaled and we received about $17,000. That figured out to just about $1100 in depreciation per year for 9 years.

Does that cool through the radiators as well as heat? It seems like it could but I've never heard of heat pumps being used like that.

We downsized from a house built in 1914 with phone jacks everywhere to a house built in 2007 with coax and ethernet ports in every room, some rooms with two. At the 1914 house, I used ethernet-over-powerline adapters so I could have a secon

Airplane! was just on The Rewatchables, one of The Ringer podcasts, and the co-pilot role was originally written for Pete Rose but he couldn't do it because they filmed during baseball season. https://www.theringer.com/

Bus drivers in the US are often behind a plexiglass shield, have a panic button, etc. and with reason. If buses ran more often, they hopefully would become attractive to a lot more people. Anecdotally, I think most issues happen later at n

If you want to give away your plasma, you can do that through the Red Cross and maybe get a $10 Amazon gift card and/or a T-shirt. It takes about 3 hours on a gurney. I donate blood every 2 months. It takes about 30 minutes. I was do

I own a Chevy Bolt EUV, made in the US. After 18 months driving it, I was happy enough with it that we leased a Chevy Equinox EV to replace my wife's gas car. The Equinox is made in Mexico, not the US but we've also been happy w

In Portland, it's against the city code to staple signs to telephone poles. This is, of course, completely ignored. There are also signs stuck on wire next to freeway exits or other prime traffic areas. Typically they're on publ

You could but there are multiple reasons why Uber dethroned taxis and probably the most important ones are that you get a route to your destination and a fixed price to get there. My first trip to Paris many years ago, I felt that I was get

I was born in the 20th century. I was filling out a medical form and put my birth year in with 2 digits. The web app took that to mean just the 2 digits. No, I wasn't born in AD 70. That's the kind of programming that makes you

I only have a Discover debit card. Discover pays 1% back on its debit cards, which is unusual. I have idly wondered why they did that. The fact that they're not subject to the restrictions on debit fees makes it clear why. I shop f

What I wanted (and still want) is a secure place to hold statements from banks for savings accounts, credit cards, etc. and brokerages. I bank with two credit unions. Years ago, they implemented a fee of $2/month for paper statements.
