I was thinking this sounded a lot like Minority Report. Then the article said that this was designed to be exactly like Minority Report. Talk about missing the moral of the story. It’s like reading the Lorax and coming away with the idea th

Exactly. I don’t necessarily care about the YouTube pet se, but I do care about the specific content from the creators I follow. And the content creators go to where the users are. And the cycle repeats. And while some of the same types o

That’s one of the problems I have with some of the “productivity culture” blogs (and podcasts) . They’re great for independents, very small businesses and executives who have that level of control. If I told my boss that I was only availabl

Saris (now owner of cycle ops) has an approximate graph on their blog. It’s probably not very accurate, but I could probably get close enough by taking some “known” points, some approximations and applying some math to the problem. The othe

I recently scored major points with the in-laws by convincing them to get a mini split for $800 instead of a window a/c-heater combo. Their place stays much cooler, and their electric bill went down by $125 last month.

Some interesting info here. I have a Garmin speed sensor and a “dumb” mag trainer (CycleOps Mag). Given the trainers known resistance curve, I was thinking about trying to come up with a script to approximate power based on speed. Basically

I listen to ATP as well, and I did end up joining their membership program. The author mentioned CGP Grey specifically, and Cortex, his podcast with Myke Hurley on relay.fm recently announced a $5 membership. Upgrade, with Jason & Myke

I know. I was being sarcastic. I’m the same way, and I’m pretty sure my strava is set to private. Mine was more of a comment on how everything has a social component nowadays.

I’ve done something similar to the author. I have OmniFocus and a folder in my dock. Most used apps are on the front page of the folder. Nothing else on the homescreen. I can’t wait for iOS 14 and the new app library, though I hope there wi

If you are on Spectrum, check out the TV Choice package as a decent option for a la carte. It's $28/mo (including the broadcast fee) on a 2-year promotion. I get all the local channels as well as 10 channels that I pick (which inc

I do architectural modeling as a side thing. My needs in more marketing materials rather than construction documents. Would blender be a possible replacement for Sketchup given the recent announcement that SU is going subscription only?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it looks more like an alternative to AutoCAD than Sketchup. It’s only a side gig so it’s not critical at the moment.

In theory it's off-putting, but in practice I'm not really bothered by the changes. If I were to buy one, it would only be as a home server for iTunes Library hosting (to AppleTV) and as a backup destination for CrashPlan. My curr

That's a terrible idea. Because when the day comes that a security researcher finds the flaw (and they will find the flaw) Apple has to admit that they lied to their customers. And that's a very bad business practice. The enhanced

I started with the moom trial, but when it came time for me to make a purchase, I ended up going with BetterSnapTool. It might not be quite as flexible as Moom, but a) it fit my personal needs and b) it was less than half the price.

Not that it makes it right, but does anyone think that Google wouldn't have used these patents offensively against the Rockstar companies if they had ended up with them?

I'm definitely splitting hairs here, but I think there's a distinction to be made between a non-practicing entity (patent troll) and a consortium of companies that pooled together to purchase patents. Rockstar may not make devices
