The Samsung Chromebook is $249 and doesn't include MS tax. Alas, it is 2.5 pounds rather than 2. I don't know about the boot into backup cycle.

The Intel Xeon Phi homepage mentions that Cilk ++ and Intel TBB support the Phi, which would imply that the Phi has C++ support. If you run Linux on the Phi (which Intel ships in their Manycore Platform Support Stack), then anything that ru

It appears to me that your workflow is missing several pieces. You are missing RSS, which will keep some people from following what you write on your website. You are missing a sitemap.xml file, which search engines care about. You could

On the upside, we are now in the age when someone can build their own cell phone. http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/26/2976703/mit-high-low-tech-... So, maybe take on a project to create the phone you want.

When I look at the web pages for Twilio and Tropo, it isn't clear that they are actually replacements for Google Voice.

The Humble stuff is also their first book offering, so maybe in the future they will choose book bundles more broadly.

I tried using darcs for awhile before I ever touched git. What made me initially switch was that darcs is non-trivial to install if you can't use a package manager (say because policy doesn't allow you to). After that, what really sold me

I've been using zfs on linux recently. http://zfsonlinux.org/ I'm not using it for the file system though. It was painless to install and so far has been reliable. I'm not yet trusting it for primary storage though.

You can configure redis to limit how much memory is used. maxmemory 104857600 Of course, that still might not be the result you want.

I had one TN display that got unpleasantly dim along the edges when viewed a bit off angle. I could never find a position for that monitor where I could go from sitting straight to slouching without some one of those positions resulting in

While we can't easily confirm the truth of what happened, we should be able to confirm if the quote from the SkyDrive ToS is accurate. If it is accurate, then it is worth pointing out to people. I don't think that private file storage serv

When 10.5 came out, a lot of unsupported systems only required a minor hack to make 10.5 install (copy the DVD to HD, edit a file, burn back to DVD). With luck, there will be an easy hack this time as well. I believe the factor that decide

I've long had poor feelings about Cygwin being slow and a poor solution. I wanted something that didn't try quite so hard to completely distance itself from Windows. So, instead, I've been using MinGW's msys project. I don't think it is q

I wanted to like Unity. However, until Ubuntu 12.04 it always was very slow. In the past, I've found that compositing desktops (as implemented wit Gnome over the years, and now Unity) would interfere with some applications. I would assume

Most things work on AMD64. In SmartOS, KVM was the major feature that didn't work on AMD64, but as they said in the faq, the community has been working on that. I can't currently find the testing ISO builds with that support, but here is
