I recently converted all of the classic Macintosh fonts to modern dataforks, if anyone is interested. Clone to ~/Library/Fonts. Warning: If you don't want your system font to turn into Charcoal, remove the 'Charcoal 10.1

I believe our bank just stopped accepting stuff from the version of quicken that my father uses to do his financials. To this day he runs quicken on a 2005 (!) iMac G5, which is his daily driver.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that netflix started sniffing the UA. You can't even play a video in SeaMonkey 2.39 without the incredibly stupid general.useragent.override.netflix.com;Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac

this is totally feasible with a custom .car file that you can embed into your program. The problem is the titlebar text. I hacked together a working SIMBL script back in the 10.6 days that fixed the problem, but it's probably lost. Int

I think you are underestimating Apple's apathy when it comes to doing anything of real interest anymore. We don't even get Darwin .iso releases or changelogs anymore. [0] We are left in an arguably worse state of affairs. It'

Thanks! Yeah it reminds me of this video I saw of some guy running super arcane Windows 3.1-era stuff on W8/10 or something with little modification. Btw, if you have rootless disabled, I have made that OS X 10.11 theme available for d

Ah yes, you're right! I worked on this over the summer, so I must have gotten them a bit mixed up. I copied the FONT info from each one into the NFNT portion of the resource fork in a newer file, then imported that file into FontForge

I find it amazing that the bitmap fonts that shipped with Macintosh OS 1 (and System 0.85 for that matter: different 'Chicago' and the strange 'Swan Song') still work on OS X with only a trivial modification: Splice the

I'm so confused as to whether Mozilla Thunderbird utilizes ChatZilla itself as the irc backend or if the developers simply re-wrote irc support from the ground up... ChatZilla is by far my favorite client and I would love if it could s

I agree. Whenever the option to change icons to text labels is available, I will use it. It's a shame that Apple's finder is ostensibly shit when it comes to text label support. No forward, no change/shadow when `pressed`, et

that's kind of what happens when you take some of the brightest minds that hacked on Plan9 and Inferno for years and have them build a programming language. It's going to be unique. Idealistic. Romantic. reading many of the points
