Tyson had a funny bit when he recently appeared on the Daily Show - he noted that the spinning Earth at the beginning of the show was spinning backwards.

Thanks to you and everyone else that responded. I was more interested in the parent's actual experience, what made them frustrated, etc. I agree that it depends highly on personal use cases and what you are trying to do. Personally, I am

So, as someone just dipping their toes into Python, what did you do regarding 2 vs 3? I have been tinkering with 2 but should I go wholly with 3? Help me before I just go back to Perl 5... :)

Yes, in fact an up and coming discipline for this is called model based systems engineering - data driven, model based development of systems (including software systems). The main tool in this area is UML/SysML, but it looks like there is

The Talk Show has always been unstructured in my experience. If you listen to some of the other 5by5 podcasts they are much more professionally done - intros/outros, some focus, and sections in some cases. I think Dan is very aware of tra

I highly disagree - especially in the browser area, it took many years to break Internet Explorer's total dominance, and the browser is what mattered most to consumers as the Internet became used by more and more everyday people. IE 4/5/6

I use homesick (which is written in Ruby) and I think I agree with you. I like the premise of having the repo in a subdirectory and symlinking the files in - I don't like to have the whole homedir in git - I only want certain things in the

Yeah, but did BoA buy actual fiber in the ground? You can have your own non-Internet IP network easily if you lease dedicated physical circuits from telcos. (This is how the military does it)

No, not that I have seen. It's only called the MIT license because MIT used it for their software (X, Athena, etc). The BSD license is a similar situation; it doesn't say BSD in it anywhere, it's only called that because it was used by BS

Audio seems to be a problem in a lot of emulators... SNES emulators had issues with sound for years. (wind blowing in FF3 (6j) being the one I always remember) I guess it's because of trying to support the capabilities of the actual sound
