That looks great and the interface is easy enough that I would like to show it to my dad who is a whisky enthusiast (and does not speak a word of English).

I am with you on that. I grew up on the good old dripper because it was the typical coffee one would drink in France, and moved on to many types of coffee, espresso, nespresso, aeropress, french press, mokka, cold brew stuff, etc. While I d

Physical training follows a fairly typical bell curve-ish dose/response relationship, where more training gives you less and less benefit until you reach a point where your recovery cannot catch up and you get worse. 7 min per day isn&

Not to be needlessly confrontational, but unless you are referring to general training modalities (change in load/volume/RPE) the change of exercise every 2 weeks is definitely not a good thing for strength training. A big part of

I'm sure it's very nice, but what I said is that I would do that in addition to my training instead of replacement! If my abs can stabilise my trunk for a 500lbs squat or a 600lbs deadlift, they're strong enough for me :)

It depends on where you start. Exercise and training follow a very basic dose/response relationship where the higher you start, the more you need to progress. If you are a couch potato, 7 minutes a day will give you a lot of progress..

I'd just like to add that the entire PRML book is now free online, not just the sample: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/uploads/prod/2006/0...

University education is pretty much what you put into it. If you sit and wait for knowledge to be spoonfed you will get theory and research, because that's the only thing that can be learned that way. If you take a more active part in

If your CS degree didn't make you a better programmer you should specifically be mad at your university more than about the distinction between CS and software engineering. A well-rounded CS degree will absolutely make you a better pro

The other side of that debate is that Proton would bring more people to Linux, and therefore the incentives for a good native version of the game on Linux would be a lot higher.

Not much you can do about it, but when I saw the URL I thought it would be minimalist recipes, i.e. the "core" of a recipe like the ones in books like Ratio [1] where the author describes recipes simply in simple ratios of its mai

This is key here. As a general rule of thumb is some information has no influence on the course of action then it is useless, as interesting as it may be. In this case you have the odd chance of that 5 year exam catching the problem at just

There are competing services. In Nottingham I use DG Cars, which is a taxi company but has an app that looks like Uber (you can see the drivers, fixed price, paid in advance by app). They just need to be more popular and maybe make it so th

The affordability is only one thing that draws people to Uber. The convenience of the app and the fact that the fare is prepaid (and therefore there is no incentive for the driver to fuck around to inflate their fare) are imho at least as i

Interpretable ML [1] is a small online book on interpretable methods. Even if the content itself is rather shallow, it has links to a lot of more focused papers on the topic. Towards A Rigorous Science of Interpretable Machine Learning is o

To me it's the random jumping from site to site via browser extension that really made SU worth it. I can discover stuff through reddit, but the presence of a comment section kind of ruins it since I am not disciplined enough to ignore

My question to those who are more informed than me is the following: why isn't the runtime distributed separately, like the JRE? It would essentially allow for smaller apps while keeping the advantages of Electron. It's an obvious
