Oh man, that's really bad. I rarely use the GMail app, so I hadn't run across this particular limitation yet. I found a forum thread where someone found a sequence of interactions that work around the problem, but select/copy/paste really

Also, you can long-press on a text field, which brings up a select/copy/paste menu. This seems to work across all Android apps, and presumably works on non-keyboard phones.

Actually, you can avoid or accidentally miss the mushroom. The game design simply makes it less likely, but it's not impossible.

If you read around the personal attacks, ESR has an interesting point: The rules of open source allow anyone to fork Google's work, which allows people trust the platform more, which spreads the platform in ways that would otherwise be impo

It's a little better for the developers than that... like $1.23 per game: "By default, the amount is split equally between the seven participants (including Child's Play and EFF), but you can tweak the split any way you'd like."

Still, it's a good idea to put some number for anchoring, and the current average is not a bad one. And a number that seems to come from other people could be more influential than a "recommended contribution". Edit: As others point out,

Apple stands to gain more than just licensing fees by threatening any non-H.264 codec. As Steve Jobs points out in his "Thoughts on Flash", Apple has millions of devices in the wild whose hardware is optimized exclusively for H.264. If an

All video codecs are covered by patents. All the popular ones, maybe. But MPEG-1 is over twenty years old, so unless there is a submarine patent out there, all the patents on it have already expired. Likewise, most aspects of MPEG-2 sho

I don't see Jobs addressing the performance of CS5-exported apps in point 5 ("Fifth, there’s Touch.") or elsewhere. The only place he says anything that could refer to Flash native apps is point 6, in which he argues against cross-platform

The sad thing: CS5 Flash could also export to native iPhone apps. A native exported app would run faster, consume less power, and potentially have better integration with the underlying platform, all with exactly the same interface as an H

I think the reason people are blase is because the story makes it seem like Apple brought the problem on themselves. The leak was utterly mundane; no one broke into the Apple campus or smuggled anything out, no one bribed or attacked an em
