Isn't this just the human condition at work? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdFB7q89_3U Fast forward a hundred years when we have a holodeck and sooner or later everyone will get bored with it.

(Just using the browserbase demo) Knowing it's technically possible is one thing, but giving it a short command and seeing it go log in to a site, scroll around, reply to posts, etc. is eerie. Also it tied me at wordle today, making th

This little morsel was coagulating in my mind as I was reading all of these comments. No idea what, if any, effect there would be, but it is a variable.

Bit of a nit but the Drake equation is intended 'to estimate the number of active, communicative extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way Galaxy' (from the Wikipedia entry for it). Nice thing is that you can drop a few ter

Hard disagree. It's there to help management control the 'au-dhd' crowd with a manufactured focus that rarely aligns with what they could naturally focus on.

I'm sure there are those that have had different experiences, but I've been party to several M&A due diligence exercises (including >$1B) at a large financial and there is *tremendous* pressure (on both sides) to move quiet

Agree generally, but in my experience AI generated code tends to have more gold-plating than hand spun code (likely due to the substantially lowered cost of generating it) Also generated comments tend to explain how/what vs why, which

This was some of the most viscerally relatable reading I've experienced in years. It's like Stand By Me for 'computer' people.

Off-topic but I used to do security assessments and had a bunch of small banks for customers. One of them was still running the banking software they had when they first got computerized and it ran on an HP3000 from the 70s. Over the year

I've invested close to a thousand dollars in sharpening tools over the years. I keep my knives super sharp as a hobby more than anything. I'd still love to have one of these in the drawer for certain tasks. It's ugly and c
