My thought is, if this sort of problem was happening at a company as big and influential in the industry as Google, that's already pretty bad. The backlash may not be warranted either way but the other position (that everything is fine

If there really are attempts at standards that sound like roughly what I am describing, I am definitely interested in hearing about them, FWIW. All I am aware of is the W3C Payment Request API, which is definitely very interesting and in a

For the payment thing in particular, what I'd really like is if internet payments moved towards open standards. If my bank or credit provider was the one actually providing the "payment" part of the checkout flow, they could

I think this is how it has been since the beginning of ELF in Linux. PT_INTERP comes from the original TIS specification of ELF and I think it was probably also in the original SVR4 ELF implementation. I understand why they went this route.

A tour guide for the U.S. definitely implies that you are going to see a variety of places in the U.S. That's implied by the word "tour" which means something roughly akin to "a journey through several different places&q

How exactly is that clickbait? You might not like it, but that doesn't make it clickbait. That's like saying it's clickbait to say Europe in a headline instead of Austria.

I think static executables will still be mostly loaded by the kernel; when you have a binary with PT_INTERP it will load that instead, but that executable still needs to be loaded in by the elf binfmt. Unless I just entirely missed what y

That really isn't unreasonable at all IMO, it's just that it might be hard to do with userspace syscall emulation, since graphical programs will likely need a lot more of the syscall surface. For X11 and Wayland, you'll need

You have a point, but I just think it's less intuitive for consumers. Manufacturers often don't even do direct sales, so the only "canonical" price is the MSRP, which is just that, a suggestion. Consumers go shopping at
